Penguin
On March 5, 2021, the Municipal Government through the Mazatlán Aquarium inaugurates the first stage of the Humboldt Penguin Conservation Center called: Pigüinario Mazatlán.



This space has a surface area of 188.87 m2 and a volume of water of 220 thousand 573.96 liters. It currently has 14 organisms, however it can host up to 70.



In general, it consists of 2 levels of exhibition and clinical level, which are distributed as follows: main pond, quarantine area, maternity area, research area, operating room, recovery area, cold room, kitchen and an area interactive where the visitor can live closely with this species.




Being a conservation center specialized in the study and reproduction of the Humboldt Penguin, with the existence of a genetic bank, the municipal government, through the Mazatlán Aquarium, joins the global program for the preservation of the species.




The Humboldt Penguin is currently listed as a vulnerable species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), meaning that it has a high probability of becoming an endangered species.
